Our Mission
Ginnie Mae’s mission is to be the “best-in-class” conduit for bringing capital into the American housing mortgage system with minimal risk to the American taxpayer.

In 1968, Congress established the Government National Mortgage Association, commonly known as Ginnie Mae, as a government-owned corporation within the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). It was the first entity to offer mortgage-backed securities with the full faith and credit guaranty of the United States government.
